Self-tapping inserts combine an internal thread with external cutting slots or holes. They form the mating thread in a prepared parent hole without pre-tapping the parent material.
Series and materials
- 302 slotted type for general self-tapping applications.
- 307 and 308 three-hole types for materials that are more difficult to cut; the series differ in length.

Typical parent materials include light alloys, bronze or brass, plastics and wood. Pilot-hole size and installation method must be confirmed for the specific material and drawing.
